About Miami Springs:
Miami Springs was originally founded by Glenn H. Curtiss, also known for designing the first airplane to successfully take off and land on water (hydroplane). With the profits from Curtiss aircraft factories in New York State, during the real estate boom of the 1920’s he bought land in the area and developed the towns of Hialeah, Country Club Estates (now Miami Springs) and Opa-Locka.
In the 1930’s the Country Club Estates area was named Town of Miami Springs, due to the many fresh water wells found in the area. It was already a well planned residential community, and in the 1950’s the expansion of the airline industry and the development of the Miami airport contributed to the economic bonanza of the area, with many airline employees settling in.
It was incorporated as City of Miami Springs in 1962, and the signature of the community remains the tree-shaded streets, and the small-town feel that residents have insisted in preserving, balancing the economic growth of the area. Today, Miami Springs is a very desirable community, reflected in the rapid increase in real estate prices in the last years.
